2002 Master breeder
Ferme Philippe Marcoux inc.![]() |
The purchase of a few root cows allowed this breed to be awarded the title of Superior Breeder. He has never been afraid to by animals at Ayrshire sales. Incidentally, it’s the progeny of 2 purchased cows that contributed to more than half of the points needed to receive the title. Lessard Mozart Lie is the cow who contributed the most to the title. With 4 stars, she proved she could breed. Eleven of her daughters were classified GP and better. Embryo transfers were very profitable on this cow. The other purchase that was beneficial for the farm was Rosayre Goldust. With fourteen descendants, she really deserves her 4 stars. Eleven of her daughters classified GP or better and they all have productions above the herd’s average. Furthermore, one cannot forget the performance of Lessard BBK Pasta, another purchased cow,. Although this cow has not given points towards obtaining this title, she however charmed many judges in 2002, being chosen Grand Champion at the Spring Show, at the St-Isidore Fair and at Expo Quebec. Ayrshire Canada is proud to honor Ferme Philippe Marcoux with the Superior Breeder Award.

Ferme François Beaudry inc.![]() |
What farm in Canada can boast about having bred the Grand Champion and Junior Champion at the Royal and at Madison in the same year? One of our new Superior Breeders accomplished this feat this year. You know as well as I do that it’s a rather exceptional achievement that we might not see again soon. François has never been afraid to let go of top quality animals, either through specialized sales or through private sales. This is at least one breeder who understands that if we are to sell animals, might as well sell our best. The Des Prairies prefix is now known throughout the world. Its fame first came with exceptional show animals, but lately, the farm is also known for its animals of high genetic potential, which shows that both types of animals can live side by side in a barn. One cow in particular contributed to the farm success in winning the Superior Breeder award. Blue Meadows Gem was a unique brood cow, as her 6* indicate. This cow transmitted her best to her progeny. Her exceptional conformation was transmitted to her 13 descendants GP or better in the herd and although she wasn’t the best in the bulk tank, her milk had very high components. For their quality breeding, Ayrshire Canada is pleased to award the title of Superior Breeder to Ferme François Beaudry.

Marcel Dubeau![]() |
We present a Superior Breeder who fully deserves this title. Over the years, he has built a balanced herd. The main base of his herd is no doubt St-Martin Olympe. Incidently, the descendants of this family contributed the most in obtaining this title. Classified EX and with seven stars, she sits enthroned at the top of our list of brood cows. She has transmitted her best to her progeny; excellent conformation and components worthy of the Ayrshire breed. This cow has lifetime levels of fat and protein of 4.59% and 3.79% respectively. As Marcel said so well the other day, breeding is not as complicated as it seems. One must use the bulls at the top of the proof list and 40% young sires. This is what gives you balanced breeding. It’s easy to see this as you walk down the barn, I am sure that it’s a profitable herd. To diversify his field of activity, the farm is also affiliated with the “Du champ à la meule” cheese factory. The milk from the farm is 80% sold to the cheese factory to produce three delicious cheeses (LeVictor Berthold, Le Fêtard and Le Laracame). I encourage you to try these excellent cheeses of 100% Ayrshire milk. Ayrshire Canada is pleased to award the title of Superior Breeder to Mr. Marcel Dubeau.

Even if this Superior Breeder has been breeding and registering Ayrshires for 48 years, the prefix “Du Lac Blanc” was established in 1985. Besides building a good Ayrshire herd, he had to do a lot of work to make the mountainous land of Saint-Ubald farmable. The cows of the herd are of a good size with a lot of capacity, built to make milk. Last year, the 52 cows of the herd produced an average of 8 600 kg of milk with 3.9%G and 3.3%P for BCA’s of 250-234-252. The herd presently consists of 16 cows classified VG, 33 GP and 3 G. The “Marie” cow familly is the one that has contributed the most to obtaining this title. Three of the four cows with the Du Lac Blanc prefix who classified Excellent besides being the best producers in the herd over the last three years, were from that family. Du Lac Blanc Marie Poudre, classified VG, produced 12 238 kg of milk last year and is projected at 13 436 kg for this year. In 1998, the herd was transferred to his two sons (Hugues and Jacques). The animals now have the Denis prefix and belong to Ferme Thomas-Louis Denis et Fils ltée. We are pleased to award the title of Superior Breeder to Mr. Thomas-Louis Denis. |
