POINT SYSTEM

• To earn points, progeny must qualify for both production and type simultaneously.

• Calculations are based on natural and ET progeny and indicate how many points are earned by each group.
• A star is worth five (5) points.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• 2 daughters or sons qualifying for both AP1 and AT1 or better.
• Progeny with 75% purity or higher may contribute points to their dam’s star.
• Only Canadian classifications are eligible on the type side.

PRODUCTION

AP1 - 1 point

• Each daughter above the rolling herd average for milk, fat and protein on one record.

or

• Each daughter with combined BCA at least 50 points above the national breed average.

or

• Each daughter with a 60,000 kg production seal.

• Each son with a first production proof superior or equal to the breed base.

AP2 - 2 points

• Each daughter with 2 records, 10 points above the rolling herd average for milk, fat and protein.

or

• Each daughter with an 70,000 kg production seal.

AP3 - 3 points

• Each son with an official production proof which ranks among the top 25% of the proven sire population for milk, fat or protein with repeatability of 75% or more.

AP4 - 4 points

• Each daughter with 3 records, 20 points above the rolling herd average for milk, fat and protein.

or

• Each daughter with an 80,000 kg production seal or more.

AP5 - 5 points

• Each daughter with an 90,000 kg production seal or more.

CONFORMATION

AT1 - 1 point

• Each daughter classified Good Plus 82 points or better.

AT2 - 2 points

• Each daughter classified Very Good 85 or 86 points.

AT3 - 3 points

• Each daughter classified Very Good between 87 and 89 points.

• Each son with an official type proof which ranks among the top 25% of the proven sire population for final class with repeatability of 75% or more.

AT4 - 4 points

• Each daughter classified Excellent.

AT5 - 5 points

• Each daughter classified Excellent 2E or more.

ELITE -AWARDS

AEL - 5 points

• Each son with an LPI which ranks within the top 5% of the proven sire population with repeatability of at least 85% for production and at least 80% for type.

AWARDING OF STAR

For every five (5) points, a cow obtains by her progeny she is awarded one (1) star.  Once the certificate is printed, the animal cannot lose the star.
